Spirit Stories Online Course
$55.00

Watch on demand!

Access this in-depth online course (links to 6 videos are included in the Guidebook) when the time is right for you, and learn how to design and create your personal soulful spirit story rug. Use your personal life experiences to create soulful art that represents your journey. Creating an abstract work of art can be relaxing and cathartic as you tap into your memories and transfer those emotions into a design made of a variety of textiles. You can use a combination of your favorite materials (yarn, cloth, hosiery, t-shirts, etc.). Establish a mood by selecting the appropriate colors, and use scale and proportion to show the world a message that you want to convey about yourself.

This online class, like all of my classes, has information about color theory, but from there topics about how to use scale and proportions in your hooked rugs will guide you to understand how to make the most of these crucial design elements. In addition, you will explore which colors represent you best, so you can create your own spirit rug. Take a couple color quizzes that are in the Guidebook, even if it’s just for fun!

There are 6 videos that range from 2 to 10 minutes each, and are organized by topic in the Guidebook. The topics covered in the videos are:

  • An introduction to the course that gives an overview about what you will learn, color selection, and the approach I use when starting an abstract rug design.

  • Where to begin hooking on your cloth.

  • Which shapes to use and how often to change colors

  • A close-up of the Fire rug I hooked to show you the different colors and numerous values.

  • An evaluation of the Fire rug I hooked to show you how to design your rug, select colors, and the placement of colors.

  • An introduction to meditation with a description of the 2 different meditations you can try to calm the mind so you can tap into your creative flow more easily.

This class is for all skill levels. I provide step by step instructions in the 40-page guidebook that are divided into sections based on subject matter making it easy to navigate the sections and topics. Explore other artists, learn color theory, use the several activities to try on your own, and have fun!

After your purchase, you will be sent a secure link to download the guidebook that includes links to the 6 videos and 5 templates to get you started. You will always have access to all of the videos.
